Red Maple K9 Gear is made for wet weather, muddy trails, training days, field work, and the everyday miles in between. A little routine care helps keep your gear clean, dependable, and ready to use.

Before each use, inspect your equipment for wear, damage, or anything that could affect safe performance.

BioThane® Care

BioThane® is waterproof, easy to clean, and made for regular outdoor use.

For most cleaning, all you need is:

• Warm water
• Mild dish soap
• A soft cloth, sponge, or soft-bristle brush
• A clean towel

Routine Cleaning

1. Rinse away loose mud, dirt, sand, or debris with clean water.
2. Wipe the BioThane® webbing with warm water and mild soap.
3. Use a soft cloth, sponge, or soft-bristle brush for dried mud or stubborn dirt.
4. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
5. Towel dry the webbing and hardware, then allow the gear to air dry completely before storing it.

Warm water and mild soap are generally sufficient for routine BioThane® cleaning.

After Mud, Salt, or Water

After use in salt water, chlorinated water, mud, sand, or heavy rain:

• Rinse the entire product with fresh water as soon as practical.
• Pay extra attention to snaps, rings, buckles, swivels, and moving components.
• Dry the hardware thoroughly with a soft cloth.
• Allow the gear to dry fully before storage.

Rinsing and drying hardware after wet or salt exposure helps reduce residue and protects the appearance and function of metal components.

Avoid

To protect the material and finish, do not:

• Machine wash or machine dry
• Put gear in a dishwasher
• Use steel wool, abrasive pads, wire brushes, or harsh scrubbing tools
• Use bleach, strong solvents, degreasers, or harsh chemical cleaners as routine care
• Expose gear to prolonged extreme heat
• Store gear while wet, dirty, or tightly coiled for long periods

BioThane's manufacturer lists specific disinfectants for belts, but that does not mean every Red Maple K9 Gear item should be routinely treated that way. For ordinary care, soap and water is the safer default.

KONG® Marine Bronze Hardware

Select Red Maple K9 Gear products use KONG® marine bronze components. Marine bronze is chosen for its durability, corrosion resistance, and natural character.

Over time, natural bronze may darken or develop a patina. This is a normal characteristic of the material and does not necessarily indicate a defect.

Hardware Care

• Rinse hardware with fresh water after mud, rain, snow, salt water, or chlorinated water exposure.
• Wipe hardware dry with a clean, soft, non-abrasive cloth.
• Check snaps, swivels, buckles, rings, and moving parts before each use.
• Remove dirt and debris from moving snap mechanisms with mild soap and water, then rinse and dry thoroughly.
• If a snap, buckle, ring, or other component becomes difficult to operate, damaged, bent, cracked, excessively worn, or corroded, stop using the gear and contact us.

For bronze hardware, a soft cloth dampened with clean water followed by thorough drying is a conservative care approach. Abrasive cleaners and solvents can damage or remove a finish or patina.
