The TrailSide Heritage is a traditional six-foot lead built with a fuller feel in the hand and straightforward, dependable construction. A fixed loop handle, solid brass swivel snap, and solid brass Chicago screws give it a traditional character.
Made from 3/4-inch Super Heavy Beta BioThane®, the Heritage has more body and a firmer hand feel than standard-coating BioThane®. The thicker coating gives the lead the substantial feel of traditional gear while retaining the waterproof, easy-care advantages of BioThane®.
Its 6-foot finished length was deliberately chosen to align with the common maximum leash length used by many parks and trail systems while still giving your dog useful room to move.
There are no adjustments to manage: a fixed loop handle, a swivel snap, and a well-built strap for everyday walks, trail miles, and regular use outside.
Why Solid Brass
We match hardware to where the gear will be used. Solid brass is well suited to upland and inland use, and it develops a natural patina over time. For salt and brackish water we use marine bronze, as on the Duke Collection.
Super Heavy Beta vs. Standard Beta
The internal polyester webbing in our 3/4-inch Super Heavy Beta and Standard Beta BioThane® is the same, and is manufacturer rated at 750 lb. The difference is the coating around it. Super Heavy Beta has a thicker coating with more body and a fuller, firmer feel in the hand. Standard Beta is lighter and more flexible. This leash uses Super Heavy Beta.
Neither construction is the stronger option. The choice comes down to how you prefer a leash to feel, carry, and store.
Why 6 Feet?
Six feet provides useful freedom of movement while remaining practical for everyday handling. It also aligns with the maximum leash length specified by many parks and trail systems.
